Warde is 8-1 against Bridgeport Central since February of 2015, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Warde Mustangs will head out on the road to square off against the Bridgeport Central Hilltoppers at 7:00 p.m. One thing working in Warde's favor is that they have posted big point totals every time they've taken the court this season.
Last Friday, Warde faced Trumbull in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Warde managed a 68-64 win over Trumbull. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Meanwhile, Bridgeport Central's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They received a tough blow as they fell 63-46 to Stamford. While losing is never fun, Bridgeport Central can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Connecticut basketball rankings (they are ranked 126th, while Stamford is ranked 14th).
Warde's victory bumped their record up to 6-1. As for Bridgeport Central, they bumped their record down to 1-5 with that defeat, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season.
Warde strolled past Bridgeport Central when the teams last played back in February of 2023 by a score of 70-56. The rematch might be a little tougher for Warde since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
