Granby Memorial is 2-8 against Ellington since April of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Bears will look to defend their home field against the Knights at 4:15 p.m. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Granby Memorial comes in on four and Ellington on eight.
Granby Memorial proved they can win big on Wednesday (they won by 25) and on Saturday they proved they can win the close ones too. They had just enough and edged out Bristol Central 8-7. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Bears have posted since April 6th.

At the plate, Ashley Tetreault and Brynne Simard did most of the damage at the plate: Tetreault went 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBI, while Simard got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Ellison Haury, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one double.
Meanwhile, Ellington made easy work of South Windsor on Saturday and carried off a 14-2 win. Considering the Knights have won 12 matchups by more than seven runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.
Ellington got a massive performance out of Madison Havener, who went 2-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base. That's the most runs Havener has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Taylor Havener, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, one double, and one RBI.
Ellington kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in five consecutive games.
Ellington's victory bumped their record up to 15-2. As for Granby Memorial, their win bumped their record up to 14-5.
Monday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Granby Memorial hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .392. However, it's not like Ellington struggles in that department as they've averaged .438. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
