The Macon County Tigers will look to defend their home court on Friday against the Greenbrier Bobcats at 6:00 p.m. The timing isn't great for Macon County: they have been struggling with four straight losses at home, while Greenbrier has snatched up three consecutive wins on the road.
Macon County fought the good fight in their overtime game against White House on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell to the Blue Devils 70-66. While losing is never fun, Macon County can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 366th, while White House is ranked 130th).
Meanwhile, even though White House scored an imposing 57 points two weeks ago, Greenbrier still came out on top. Greenbrier walked away with a 66-57 victory over White House.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Greenbrier to victory, but perhaps none more so than Nolan Carson, who dropped a triple-double on 16 points, 16 rebounds, and ten assists. That's the first time this season that Carson posted eight or more assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Nate Castleman, who scored 18 points.
Macon County's defeat dropped their record down to 3-10. As for Greenbrier, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 10-7 record this season.
Macon County came up short against Greenbrier in their previous matchup on January 9th, falling 54-43. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Carson, who dropped a double-double on 26 points and 17 rebounds. Now that Macon County knows the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? There's only one way to find out.
