There's no place like home for the Richmond Raiders, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road last Tuesday. They walked away with a 41-31 win over Fairmont on Wednesday. This was payback for Richmond, who suffered a 55-51 loss the last time these two teams met.
Jamyia Lindsey continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 18 points. That makes it four consecutive games in which she has scored at least 25% of Richmond's points. Madisen Jackson was another key contributor, scoring 6 points along with 5 rebounds and 3 steals.
Taniya Simms and Miah Smith certainly did their best on Wednesday to try and avoid the loss. Simms scored 10 points along with 7 rebounds, while Smith scored 7 points along with 8 rebounds and 5 steals. The matchup was Simms' fourth in a row with at least ten points.
Even though they lost, Fairmont were working as a unit and finished the game with 12 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Richmond only posted four.
The win got Richmond back to even at 2-2. As for Fairmont, their loss dropped their record down to 3-1.
Richmond will head out on the road to face off against Panther Creek at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Panther Creek focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 14 last Tuesday. As for Fairmont, they will be playing at home against Lumberton at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
