Rainier can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Washington basketball rankings (they are ranked 130th, while Federal Way is ranked 27th).
Despite the loss, Mt. Rainier still got an impressive performance from Zach Luz, who scored 38 points along with two steals. That was a full 67.9% of Mt. Rainier's points, marking the fifth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Mason Emil was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with two steals.
Mt. Rainier's defeat dropped their record down to 9-8. As for Federal Way, they have been performing well recently as they've won 11 of their last 13 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 14-5 record this season.
Mt. Rainier will be playing at home against Jefferson at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Jefferson is coming into the matchup on a six-game losing streak. As for Federal Way, they will head out on the road to face off against Kennedy Catholic at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
