The Superior Panthers suffered their biggest loss since December 22, 2023 on Monday. They took a serious blow against Fort Thomas, falling 64-16. Superior was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 36-5.
Despite the loss, Superior had strong showings from Lilianna Fritz, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and ten rebounds, and Sussan Mancinas, who scored two points. Fritz continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played.
Tyesha Wilson was her usual excellent self, scoring 19 points along with four steals for Fort Thomas. Wilson is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Kaylee Benally was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with eight rebounds.
Superior bumped their record down to 1-16 with that defeat, which was their third straight on the road. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 15.3 points per game. As for Fort Thomas, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 16-9 record this season.
Superior will be playing at home against Mogollon at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Fort Thomas, they will head out on the road to square off against Baboquivari at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Baboquivari is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak.
