The Pacific Grove Breakers will square off against the Branham Bruins on Tuesday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Pacific Grove is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Saturday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Leland 2-1. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Breakers.
Alex Giammanco spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on three hits and racked up six Ks.
On the hitting side, Pacific Grove's win was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Destiny Buckles, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one RBI.
Pacific Grove hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Leland struck out six times.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Branham). They put the hurt on Presentation with a sharp 14-2 victory on Saturday. The Bruins not only won on Saturday, but they posted their biggest win since May 13, 2025 (when they won 21-9).
Branham also let their pitcher toss all six innings played and she was also dialed-in: Taylor Bugliarello gave up just two earned runs on four hits and racked up ten Ks. Bugliarello has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Kaitlyn Douglas, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Madelyn Steiner, who went 2-for-5 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple.
Pacific Grove's win bumped their record up to 8-18. As for Branham, the victory got them back to even at 12-12.
