The Port Allen Pelicans will square off against the North Iberville Bears at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Port Allen has five straight wins, North Iberville has 12 straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
On Saturday, Port Allen made easy work of Slaughter Community Charter and carried off an 11-1 victory. The Pelicans might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 19 matches by eight runs or more this season.
Joseph Jourdan was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over six innings pitched. Jourdan was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Hunter Bodin, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-3. He has become a key player for Port Allen: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 7-9 otherwise. Meanwhile, North Iberville came up short against White Castle on Tuesday, falling 16-5.
Anthony Russo was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run and stealing four bases while going 1-for-1. Zion Pryer was another key player, scoring a run and stealing two bases while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances.
Port Allen's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 20-9. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.7 runs on average over those games. As for North Iberville, their loss dropped their record down to 0-12-1.
North Iberville's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Port Allen hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .350. It's a different story for North Iberville, though, as they've only averaged .203. Will they be able to contain Port Allen's hitters?
