The Westside Seminoles won the last time they faced the Perry Panthers, and things went their way on Monday too. Westside sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 54-52 win over the Panthers. Given Westside's advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 177th, while the Panthers are ranked 391st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Westside's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Joshua Harden, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and ten rebounds. Christian Little was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with seven rebounds.
Westside's win bumped their record up to 17-8. As for Perry, they have not been sharp recently as the team's lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-18 record this season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Westside will take on the Huskies at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Perry, they won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against the Bobcats at 7:30 p.m. on February 6th.
