A District 4 recap Sept. 26, 2012
Ringling was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from seventh to second in A District 4. The Blue Devils vanquished Velma-Alma 55-14 earlier in the week.
Empire and Rush Springs played the most hotly contested game in the league this week, with Empire eventually emerging with a 7-6 victory.
Velma-Alma's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Comets feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Ty Richardson has thrown for 411 yards and five touchdowns this season, while Checotah Lynn has nine catches for 181 yards. Dallen Mercer leads the league in rushing with 233 yards.
Two of the top units in A District 4 will face off this week when the Comets take on Wilson. Velma-Alma's offense has recorded 56 points this season, making them No. 1 in the league, while the Eagles have permitted only 184 on the year.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Ringling takes on Healdton. Tracy Gandy's team is currently in second, while the Bulldogs are in third.
