There's no place like home for the San Marcos Rattlers, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road last Tuesday. They came out on top against East Central by a score of 63-56 on Friday. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
San Marcos' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Cash Good led the charge by scoring 18 points along with seven rebounds and six assists. Another player making a difference was Donavan Riddick, who scored 17 points along with eight rebounds.
Despite the loss, East Central still got an impressive performance from Jacob Stewart, who dropped a double-double on 28 points and ten rebounds. Stewart is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last four games he's played. Zahir Williams was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with seven rebounds and two blocks.
Even though they lost, East Central smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 21 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as San Marcos only pulled down eight offensive rebounds.
San Marcos' victory bumped their record up to 21-9. As for East Central, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 18-9 record this season.
San Marcos will be playing in front of their home fans against Clemens at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Clemens presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than San Marcos in Texas (Clemens is ranked 32nd, while San Marcos is ranked 163rd). As for East Central, they will head out on the road to take on Judson at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
