The Cameron Yellow Jackets's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their fifth straight loss. They took a serious blow against Talihina, falling 56-17. While losing is never fun, Cameron can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Oklahoma basketball rankings (they are ranked 452nd, while Talihina is ranked 155th).
Leading Talihina to victory were Noah Lloyd and Kaidon Potts. Lloyd scored nine points along with four steals, while Potts scored 14 points along with five rebounds and two steals. Potts continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last five games he's played. Cy Ammons was another key contributor, scoring nine points.
Cameron bumped their record down to 3-14 with that loss, which was their fifth straight at home. As for Talihina, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 8-6.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Cameron will square off against Watts at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Watts is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak. Talihina won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Pocola at 8:30 p.m. on January 18th. Pocola knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past six matches -- so hopefully Talihina likes a good challenge.
