A District 16 recap September 24, 2013
Hillcrest was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from fifth to third in A District 16. Earlier in the week, the Vikings triumphed over Oakhaven 19-6.
Mitchell lost to Southaven 31-13 last week, the largest margin of any game. Tomadreus Trezevant was a bright spot for the Tigers, as he threw for 124 yards and ran for 58 yards in the defeat.
Mitchell's dynamic duo of Trezevant and Calvin Scott, Jr proved tough for the Chargers to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Dejuan Mcquarters helped Mitchell's passing attack out by catching 3 balls for 46 yards.
Nathan Cole's team's dynamic duo of Trezevant and Scott, Jr proved to be unstoppable against Southaven, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week.
Scott, Jr was the best wideout in the league this week as the Tigers lost to Ed Rich's team. Scott, Jr tallied 2 receptions for 50 yards.
Trezevant put up the best numbers through the air as Mitchell lost to the Chargers.
Donte Harris was the most successful running back in the league this week. In 5 carries, he ran for 90 yards as Hillcrest fell to Southaven. Teammate Delquinton Boddie added to the ground attack by rushing for 81 yards.
Mitchell's Trezevant and Mcquarters have formed a dream team this season, leading A District 16 in both passing and receiving yards. Trezevant has thrown for 537 yards this season, while Mcquarters, a 5-foot-10 receiver, has 14 catches for 207 yards. Boddie from Julius Jackson Jr.'s team leads the league in rushing with 239 yards.
The Vikings are in third place, while Memphis Academy of Health Sciences is in second place.
Carver made the biggest leap in the national rankings this week, rising to 11,076 from 11,880. They were able to move up in the ranks after a 24-14 victory over Washington last week.
