On Friday, Whittell faced Virginia City in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Virginia City took the contest and then some with a 64-22 victory over Whittell. That's another feather in the cap for Virginia City, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Virginia City started the game off right with 30 first-half points. Whittell countered with 22 points, leaving the score at 30-22 going into the half. Virginia City put the match away in the third quarter with 20 points from the offense and zero points allowed from the defense.
Virginia City will look to defend their home turf next week against Excel Christian at 1:00 PM. As for Whittell, they will face off against Pyramid Lake. Neither of these teams wants a repeat from their last game since each was dealt a considerable loss.
