Basketball Recap: Wootton Piles Up the Points Against Northwood

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Wootton). They breezed by the Northwood Gladiators to the tune of 79-42 on Monday. The Patriots have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Gladiators, too.

Wootton's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Chase Mitchell, who went 7 for 13 on his way to 18 points in addition to six assists and four steals. Mitchell's evening made it four games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Joe Waldron, who went 6 of 9 on his way to 12 points and seven rebounds.

The win got Wootton back to even at 2-2. As for Northwood, they are on a five-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-4.

Wootton will take on Rockville in a holiday battle at at 7:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Wootton is facing Rockville at the right time seeing as Rockville is stuck on a three-game losing streak. Northwood and Paint Branch will compete for holiday cheer at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Paint Branch knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past four games -- so hopefully Northwood likes a good challenge.
