With a playoff win on the line, Richfield rose to the challenge on Friday. They secured a 51-46 W over the Union Cougars. The Wildcats haven't had any issues with the Cougars recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive victory against them.
Abbee Albrecht was her usual excellent self, almost dropping a double-double with 18 points and nine rebounds. She has been hot, having also posted two or more steals the last six times she's played. Another player making a difference was Katie Anderson, who went 5-for-7 to rack up 12 points.
Richfield was working as a unit and finished the game with 15 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in December of 2024.
Despite the defeat, Union saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Lisa Richards went 6-for-13 on her way to 18 points and four steals. Richards continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Payzlei Parrish, who posted six points.
Richfield's record is now 14-11. As for Union, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four matches, which has put a noticeable dent in their 8-14 record this season.
