Softball Recap: Pace Has No Trouble Against Rivera

Pace never let their opponents score on Friday. Everything went their way against the Rivera Raiders as the Pace Vikings made off with a 7-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Vikings, who have now won five matches by seven runs or more so far this season.

Rivera's batters probably weren't too happy with Luna Juarez, who pitched a no hitter (she gave up two walks). The dominant performance also gave Juarez a new career-low in hits (zero).

On the hitting side, Pace's victory was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Megan Mares, who scored two runs while going 1-for-3. Sofia Alejandro was another, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Pace pushed their record up to 8-5 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Rivera, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost seven of their last nine contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-10 record this season.

When Pace and Rivera next hit the field, they'll be up against teams who recently just can't seem to lose. Pace will try to stop Mercedes' four-game winning streak when they meet at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Similarly, Rivera will challenge Weslaco East and their four-game winning streak at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
