The Winters Warriors will head out on the road to face off against the Pioneer Patriots at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Winters had to endure a four-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They came out on top against Rio Vista by a score of 59-50 on Tuesday. The victory was just what Winters needed coming off of a 76-44 loss in their prior contest.
Meanwhile, Pioneer earned a 62-51 victory over Highlands on Tuesday.
Pioneer got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Chancey Minshew out in front who scored 16 points along with 8 rebounds and 6 assists. That makes it three consecutive games in which Minshew has scored at least 25% of Pioneer's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Erik Hoyt, who scored 14 points along with 6 steals and 5 rebounds.
Futures' win bumped their season record to 0-0 while Winters' loss dropped theirs to 0-4.
Winters couldn't quite finish off Pioneer in their previous meeting back in February of 2020 and fell 51-48. Thankfully for Winters, Mason Mitchell (who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 10 rebounds) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
