It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but the Avonworth Antelopes had no problem doing just that on Friday. They came out on top against Elizabeth Forward by a score of 21-10. The victory was just business as usual for Avonworth, who after 12 games remain undefeated this season.
Andrew Kuban continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 138 yards and a touchdown while picking up 8.1 yards per carry, and also throwing for eight yards and a touchdown while completing 100% of his passes.
Another reason for the win was Avonworth's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for four sacks. In fact, those sacks all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Mason Metz.
Avonworth's victory bumped their record up to 12-0. As for Elizabeth Forward, their loss dropped their record down to 10-2.
Avonworth will face off against Belle Vernon at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Belle Vernon knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past seven games -- so hopefully Avonworth likes a good challenge. Elizabeth Forward does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
