Reardan is 0-8 against Chewelah since May of 2021 but things could change on Tuesday. The Screaming Eagles will host the Cougars at 4:30 p.m. Reardan has given up an average of 8.7 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Reardan is headed into Tuesday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fifth straight game on Wednesday. They came up short against Medical Lake, falling 23-4.
Brady Angell was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with two stolen bases and three RBI. Another player making a difference was Owen Long, who scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in both of his plate appearances.
Meanwhile, Chewelah put another one in the bag on Saturday to keep their perfect season alive. Everything went their way against Kettle Falls as they made off with a 13-1 win. The result was nothing new for the Cougars, who have now won six games by ten runs or more so far this season.
Bode Katzer was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 1-for-3.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Grady Skok, who scored three runs while going 2-for-2. He also put up a double, which was his first of the season. Makai Masuda was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI.
Chewelah pushed their record up to 9-0 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.5 runs over those games. As for Reardan, they now have a losing record of 4-5.
Tuesday's matchup might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Reardan has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .491. However, it's not like Chewelah struggles in that department as they've averaged .520. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Reardan suffered a grim 8-0 defeat to Chewelah in their previous meeting back in March of 2024. Can the Screaming Eagles avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
