Burrillville has been on the road for two straight, but on Monday they'll finally head home. They will take on the North Smithfield Northmen at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Rhode Island (Burrillville is ranked 26th, while North Smithfield is ranked 13th).
On Saturday, things could have been worse for Burrillville, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 50-33 loss to Lincoln School. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Burrillville in their matchups with Lincoln School: they've now lost three in a row.
Meanwhile, North Smithfield came tearing into Thursday's game with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7.3 points) and they left with even more momentum. They came out on top against Toll Gate by a score of 44-31. The team accrued 33 points in the first half and coasted on those for the victory.
Kate Zonin had a dynamite game for North Smithfield, scoring 12 points along with seven rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Zonin has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Bryson Murray, who scored 13 points.
Burrillville has traveled a rocky road recently having lost eight of their last ten games, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-9 record this season. As for North Smithfield, they pushed their record up to 11-7 with that win, which was their third straight at home.
Burrillville won a contest that couldn't have been any closer when the teams last played back in January, slipping by North Smithfield 36-35. Will Burrillville repeat their success, or does North Smithfield have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
