The Chesapeake Cougars will square off against the Northeast Eagles at TBD on Friday. Chesapeake is coming into the contest hot, having won their last four games.
Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Chesapeake walked away with it. They took their matchup at home on Friday with ease, bagging a 47-7 victory over Chopticon. Chesapeake might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team's won four matchups by 27 points or more this season.
Chesapeake relied on the efforts of Keller Herzberger, who threw for 173 yards and three touchdowns while completing 80% of his passes, and Sean Carroll, who gained 110 total yards and three touchdowns. Isaak Sears did his part to keep the secondary busy, picking up 112 receiving yards.
Meanwhile, Northeast sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 10-7 victory over South River on Friday. The win was just what Northeast needed coming off of a 28-0 loss in their prior contest.
Their wins bumped Chesapeake to 8-2 and Northeast to 7-3.
Chesapeake was able to grind out a solid win over Northeast in their previous meeting back in October, winning 21-14. The rematch might be a little tougher for Chesapeake since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
