This season hasn't been kind to the Longwood Lions, who are still winless after their fourth match. They were beaten by William Floyd 69-40 on Tuesday. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Longwood in their matchups with the Colonials: they've now lost four in a row.
William Floyd had a senior duo take command as Kayla Gilmore almost dropped a double-double on 17 points and nine rebounds and Shy Hawkins dropped a double-double on 17 points and 16 rebounds. It was the first time this season that Gilmore pulled down eight or more rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Natalie Samlihan, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 11 rebounds.
Longwood's loss dropped their record down to 0-4. As for William Floyd, the victory was the tenth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 14-1.
