5A Region I District 5 recap October 1, 2013
Ryan extended the longest winning streak in 5A Region I District 5 this week by beating McKinney, 49-20. The victory was the fourth in a row for the Raiders.
Lewisville lost to Boyd 57-7 last week, the largest margin of any game.
Hebron's offense was unstoppable this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Carson Proffitt threw for 79 and 2 touchdowns and Jamal Adams had 22 yards receiving. On the ground Treyvon Hughes contributed 91 yards.
Hughes provided a threat through the air and on the ground as the Hawks beat Plano.
Proffitt put up the best numbers through the air as Hebron topped the Wildcats.
On the heels of Proffitt and Hughes, Brian Brazil's team has had great success on offense. Proffitt leads the league in passing with 509 yards, while Hughes has rushed for 454 yards this season. Marcus's Kaden Smith leads the league in receiving yards with 222 on 14 catches.
The Hawks made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 177 from 318. The improvement was the result of a 28-7 victory over Plano last week.
