1A Conference 9 recap September 24, 2013
Northampton County extended the longest winning streak in 1A Conference 9 this week by beating Southeast Halifax, 49-8. The win marks fifth in a row for the the Jaguars.
North Edgecombe moved up to 307 from 346 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Warriors climbed the ranks as a result of topping Weldon 28-8.
Riverside's dynamic duo of Clay Wagner and Daniel Everett proved tough for East Carteret to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Wagner threw for 144 yards and Everett had 64 yards receiving. Ziree Rodgers helped Riverside's passing attack out by catching 2 balls for 53 yards.

Keion Crossen was the most successful running back in the league this week. In 13 carries, he ran for 157 yards as Northampton County fell to East Carteret. Waquel Ponton also contributed to the rushing game with 72 yards on the ground.
Everett was the best receiver in 1A Conference 9 this week as Riverside fell to Mike Sartain's team.
Wagner put up the best numbers through the air as Riverside lost to the Mariners.
Stephen Allen made the biggest impact on defense this week as Riverside lost to East Carteret. The 6-foot-2 junior.
Crossen was a passing and rushing force as George Privott's team topped the Trojans.
Leading the league in both passing and receiving yards, Riverside's Wagner and Everett have proven to be a lethal combination. Wagner has thrown for 484 yards this season, while Everett, a 6-foot-3 receiver, has 9 catches for 212 yards. The Jaguars' Crossen leads the league in rushing yards with 717.
Northampton County took down Southeast Halifax 49-8 last week, the largest margin of any game. Crossen threw for 9 yards during the win.
