The Maritime Academy Charter Seadogs just played last night, but they'll still head out to face the Mastery Charter North - Pickett Pumas at 4:30 p.m. on December 20th. Maritime Academy Charter is hoping to put an end to a seven-game streak of away losses dating back to last season.
On Tuesday, Maritime Academy Charter beat Olney 54-45. The win was just what Maritime Academy Charter needed coming off of a 86-36 defeat in their prior matchup.
Maritime Academy Charter can attribute much of their success to Zibri Miller, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 11 rebounds, and Jadin Aviles, who scored 22 points along with six rebounds and four steals. Those 22 points set a new season-high mark for him. The team also got some help courtesy of Jermaine Boone-Williams, who scored five points.
Meanwhile, Mastery Charter North - Pickett scored the most points they've had all season to find success last Tuesday. They came out on top against John Bartram by a score of 71-63. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Mastery Charter North - Pickett's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jacob Mitchell, who scored 17 points. That's the first time this season that Mitchell scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Haseem Watson, who scored 15 points.
Maritime Academy Charter's record now sits at 2-6. As for Mastery Charter North - Pickett, they now have a winning record of 3-2.
