Athens was not able to break out of their rough patch  on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight  loss. They were a single  set away from ending the streak, but they lost  a   3-2 heartbreaker at the hands of the Muscle Shoals Trojans. The Golden Eagles were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Trojans apparently hadn't forgotten their  defeat the last time these teams played  back in October of 2024.
 Athens actually scored more points across those five sets (108-105), but sadly they still had to settle for second. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 26-24, 25-21, 18-25, 21-25,  15-13.
Athens' loss dropped their record down to 9-13. As for Muscle Shoals, their win bumped their record up to 10-12.
 Athens has  already played their next  contest (against Randolph School), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Muscle Shoals, they will be playing at home against Decatur  at 5:30  p.m.  on Tuesday.
