Camp Verde is 1-8 against Scottsdale Christian Academy since April of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Cowboys will be playing in front of their home fans against the Eagles at 5:30 p.m. Camp Verde is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.3 runs per game this season.
Camp Verde took a loss when they played away from home on Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Thursday. They never let Red Rock get on the board and left with a 15-0 win. The victory continues a trend for the Cowboys in their matchups with the Scorpions: they've now won six in a row.
Tyler Georgia made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one walk in seven consecutive appearances. He was even better at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March.
In other batting news, Camp Verde let Gunner Selting and Jackson Paceley run wild. Selting went a perfect 2-for-2 with three stolen bases, one run, and one double, while Paceley got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three stolen bases and two runs. That's the most runs Paceley has posted since back in April of 2024. Deegan Rodriquez was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.
Camp Verde kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are 4-2 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, Scottsdale Christian Academy narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Glendale Prep Academy 7-6. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Eagles.
Luke Troxell made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Troxell was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with one stolen base and two RBI.
In other batting news, Dylan Tims and Trevor Green did most of the damage at the plate: Tims went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run, while Green went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and one run.
Camp Verde's victory bumped their record up to 5-16. As for Scottsdale Christian Academy, their win bumped their record up to 14-6.
Monday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Camp Verde hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .342. However, it's not like Scottsdale Christian Academy struggles in that department as they've averaged .357. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
