Buffalo fell on hard times earlier this season, but after back-to-back victories it seems like their luck might finally be changing. They strolled past Sherwood with points to spare last Thursday, taking the game 53-34. Buffalo pushed the score to 48-28 by the end of the third, a deficit Sherwood cut but never quite recovered from.
Buffalo relied on the efforts of Blair Abraham, who almost dropped a double-double on 16 points and nine rebounds, and Braden Mcgregor, who scored 16 points along with seven assists and six rebounds. Abraham hasn't dropped below nine rebounds for seven straight games. Carson Shepperly was another key contributor, scoring six points along with five assists.
In what's become a running theme this season, Versailles gave their fans yet another huge win on Wednesday. They claimed a resounding 78-49 victory over Tipton at home. Winning may never get old, but Versailles sure is getting used to it with their fifth in a row.
Versailles' win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Ryder Williams, who scored 30 points along with eight rebounds and two steals. That makes it eight consecutive games in which Williams has scored at least a third of Versailles' points. Another player making a difference was Reese Murdock, who scored 14 points along with five assists and five rebounds.
Buffalo's victory ended a seven-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 4-12. As for Versailles, they are on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 12 games, which provided a nice bump to their 18-3 record this season.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Buffalo have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 27.1 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Versailles struggles in that department as they've been averaging 39.9 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
