Mt. Rainier hasn't had much luck against Tahoma recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Rams will take on the Bears at 7:00 p.m. The last three games Mt. Rainier has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
Mt. Rainier is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Kentwood on Wednesday, sneaking past 8-7.
Johnny Hall was incredible, going 3-for-7 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. That triple was his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Rian Eaton, who went 3-for-6 with one triple and one RBI.
Hall wasn't the only one making solid contact: Mt. Rainier kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since the start of last season.
Meanwhile, Tahoma owes their pitching crew a big pat on the back after their performance on Friday. They were the clear victors by an 8-0 margin over Kentlake. The Bears might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three contests by seven runs or more this season.
Tahoma also got a great performance from Brayden Fenton as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over five innings pitched. Fenton also tossed a walk, which is notable because the Bears are undefeated when he allows at most one walk, but 2-3 otherwise.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Trey Davies, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April of 2024. Beckett Turnbow was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double.
Mt. Rainier pushed their record up to 6-2 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of 2.25 runs across that stretch. As for Tahoma, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-3 record this season.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Mt. Rainier has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.8 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Tahoma struggles in that department as they've been averaging 2.8 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Mt. Rainier might still be hurting after the 14-1 loss they got from Tahoma in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can the Rams avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
