5A Region III District 19 recap September 17, 2013
Rodney Anderson of Katy ran for the longest rushing play in 5A Region III District 19 this season against The Woodlands last week. Anderson scampered for 97 yards on the play and finished with 226 on the day as his team topped the Highlanders.
Seven Lakes scaled the state rankings by moving to 96 from 148 this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Spartans were able to make move up by beating Fort Bend Travis 31-14.
Strake Jesuit's dynamic duo of Colby Chapman and Christian McStravick proved to be unstoppable against Dallas Jesuit, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Chapman threw for 401 yards and Christian McStravick had 131 yards receiving. Miles clutterbuck helped Strake Jesuit's passing attack out by catching 4 balls for 91 yards.
The Crusaders' dynamic duo of Chapman and Christian McStravick proved tough for the Rangers to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week.
Anderson was the best running back in the league this week. Teammate Kyle Porter added to the ground attack by rushing for 107 yards.
Anderson was a force in the backfield as Katy bested The Woodlands.
Chapman put up the best numbers in passing as Strake Jesuit lost to Dallas Jesuit.
He was 24-38 with 1 interceptions.
Christian McStravick was the best receiver in 5A Region III District 19 this week as James Clancy's team lost to Brandon Hickman's team.
Leading the league in both passing and receiving yards, the Crusaders' Chapman and Christian McStravick have proven to be a lethal combination. 6-1 quarterback Chapman has thrown for 644 yards this season, while Christian McStravick has 18 catches for 219 yards. Gary Joseph's team's Anderson leads the league in rushing yards with 557.
At the moment, the Tigers are in third, while Mayde Creek is in sixth.
Morton Ranch took down Alief Hastings 49-6 last week, the largest margin of any game. Ryan Burciaga threw for 69 yards and ran for 24 yards during the win.
