The Omaha North Vikings have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three matches by 26 points or more this season. They breezed by Benson at home to the tune of 72-36. Given Omaha North's advantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 58th, while Benson is ranked 211th), the result on Wednesday wasn't entirely unexpected.
Leading Omaha North to victory were Jerri'on Williams and Mynor Strong. Williams scored 15 points along with nine rebounds, while Strong scored 16 points along with six assists. That's the first time this season that Williams pulled down eight or more rebounds. Another player making a difference was Garrett Potts, who scored five points along with five rebounds and three blocks.
Ne'rae Lee and Goanar Bamach certainly did their best on Wednesday to try and avoid the loss. Lee dropped a double-double on ten points and 12 rebounds, while Bamach scored nine points along with nine rebounds and three blocks. That's the first time this season that Lee pulled down eight or more rebounds.
Omaha North's win was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 7-2. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.9 points per game. As for Benson, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-7.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Omaha North will take on Papillion-LaVista South at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. As for Benson, they will be playing at home against Buena Vista at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Buena Vista comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
