West-Oak has gone 8-2 against Crescent recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The West-Oak Warriors will venture away from home to take on the Crescent Tigers at 7:30 p.m.
West-Oak is headed into the match out to prove that what happened against Daniel last Friday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. West-Oak took a blow against Daniel, falling 77-17. The Warriors have struggled against the Lions recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive lost matchup.
Grant Smith was West-Oak's leading scorer, having posted seven points. Smith also led the team in assists with two. Harry Burgess held things down on the boards with four rebounds.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Crescent). They snuck past Walhalla with a 76-71 win on Thursday. With that victory, the Tigers brought their scoring average up to 51.1 points per game.
Crescent's win came from a few key players West-Oak will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Jas'Yiah Davis, who posted 22 points along with eight boards and six assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Philip Deveaux, who went 7 of 14 on his way to 18 points and eight assists.
The win was the third in a row for Crescent, bringing their record for this year to 10-7. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.7 points per game. As for West-Oak, their loss dropped their record down to 3-12.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: West-Oak has crashing the boards this season, having averaged 22.4 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Crescent struggles in that department as they've been averaging 31.3 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
West-Oak didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Crescent in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, but they still walked away with a 59-55 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for West-Oak since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
