Linn is 2-8 against Fatima since February of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. The Linn Wildcats' homestand continues as they prepare to take on the Fatima Comets at 8:30 p.m. on December 13th. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Last Monday, Linn got the win against Cuba by a conclusive 51-28.
Kiana Hostetler was her usual excellent self, scoring 18 points along with three steals. The game was her sixth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Paige Senevey, who scored eight points along with five rebounds.
Meanwhile, Fatima waltzed into Monday's matchup with two straight wins but they left with three. They breezed by St. Clair on the road to the tune of 63-29. Given Fatima's advantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 43rd, while St. Clair is ranked 369th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Alli Robertson, who scored 16 points along with three steals. That makes it four consecutive games in which she has scored at least 25% of Fatima's points. Another player making a difference was Kaitlyn Plassmeyer, who scored 12 points.
Linn's win was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-2. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.3 points per game. As for Fatima, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 6-2 record this season.
Wednesday's game is shaping up to be a scrappy contest: Linn have been smashing the glass this season, having only averaged 30.6 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Fatima struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 28.4 rebounds per game. Given Linn's sizeable advantage in that area, Fatima will need to find a way to close that gap.
Linn came up short against Fatima in their previous meeting back in January, falling 60-56. Will Linn have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other basketball content.
