Belpre had lost five straight at home, but on Wednesday they dropped down to 2-10 to make it six. They lost 29-3 to the Frontier Cougars. The Golden Eagles lost against the Cougars in their previous head to head back in May of 2025, too, but the margin this time around was even wider than the 6-5 score last time.
Belpre saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Joey Lockhart, who went 1-for-2 with one run, one double, and one RBI. That double marked the first that Lockhart has hit this season.
As for Frontier, with the win, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 4-8. With that victory, they brought their scoring average up to 7 runs per game.
On Frontier's side, Zerik Rinard was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out eight batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits. That's the most strikeouts Rinard has posted since back in May of 2025. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in five of his six plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.
In other batting news, Frontier let Luke Mendenhall and Gage Douglas run wild. Mendenhall got on base in all six of his plate appearances with four runs, two stolen bases, and five RBI, while Douglas went 3-for-4 with four runs, five RBI, and one stolen base. Mendenhall has become a key player for Frontier: the team is undefeated when he posts at least three RBI, but 1-8 otherwise. Hunter Ruble was another key player, going 2-for-5 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Belpre will venture away from home to take on Eastern at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Golden Eagles' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Eagles have averaged an impressive 9.9 runs per game this season. As for Frontier, they will head out to face off against Waterford at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
