Each year since 2006, MaxPreps has recognized outstanding performers in high school football. America's source for high school sports continues the tradition to close out the 2022 season by naming the top player in each state. Selections are based on team success and individual excellence in addition to local and state accolades.
Xavier Robinson of
Carl Albert (Midwest City) is the 2022 MaxPreps Oklahoma High School Football Player of the Year. The 6-foot-2, 225-pound junior running back helped the Titans go 12-2 and capture the Class 5A state championship.
For the season, Robinson rushed for 2,598 yards and 39 touchdowns. In a 49-7 win over McAlester in the title game, he produced 180 yards and two scores on the ground in addition to passing for another TD and being on the receiving end of another.
In the semifinals against top-ranked Grove, Robinson totaled 279 offensive yards with three touchdowns as Carl Albert cruised to a 55-21 victory.
Iowa State and North Texas are among the programs that have extended early offers to Robinson.
Each state's MaxPreps Player of the Year will be considered for inclusion in the MaxPreps All-America Team, which will be released January 10.
