Baseball Recap: Ludlow Wins Going Away Against Dayton

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Owen County, Ludlow was happy to have turned things around on Monday. They blew past the Dayton Greendevils 17-1. Considering the Panthers have won five matchups by more than nine runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Parker Trenkamp made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out nine over five innings pitched. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Ludlow is 2-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 5-7 otherwise. Trenkamp was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with four runs, two RBI, and one double. Those three hits gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Ludlow got a massive performance out of Deakon Reed, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Those two doubles gave Reed a new career-high. Miller Reed was another key player, going 1-for-3 with three runs, one double, and one RBI.

Ludlow's victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 7-8. As for Dayton, their loss was their fifth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 2-12.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Ludlow will square off against Pendleton County at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Dayton, they will take on Bellevue at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
