Jessica Burk made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She struck out 13 batters over seven innings while giving up four earned (and three unearned) runs off six hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing Two bases. while going 1-for-3.
In other batting news, Hannah Welborn was incredible, going 2-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March of 2024. Cassidy Robinson was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4.
Panther Creek kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in three consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Apex, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Wednesday. They put the hurt on Cary with a sharp 15-2 win on Thursday. That looming 15-2 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Cougars yet this season.
The team relied heavily on Leah Kendall, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. That home run was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Blakely Sellers, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI.
Panther Creek now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Apex, their victory bumped their record up to 4-2.
Both the two teams just can't seem to miss. Panther Creek has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 8.8 hits per game. However, it's not like Apex struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 5.3 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Panther Creek took their win against Apex in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 10-0. Does Panther Creek have another victory up their sleeve, or will Apex turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
