Los Alamitos (Calif.) kept up a steady attack all game long to defeat Damien (La Verne, Calif.), 42-7, on Saturday.
After taking the lead on a
Richie Molina touchdown run in the second quarter, the Griffins led 21-7 at the half.
Los Alamitos expanded its lead to 21 points entering the fourth quarter. LA scored once in the quarter on a touchdown pass by
Cody Marshall to
Kendall Brownlow.
The Griffins' most effective player was Marshall. The senior quarterback threw two touchdowns and ran for one touchdown.
Gage Pucci played well for the Spartans. The junior quarterback threw one touchdown.
Damien's lone touchdown came on a 45-yard pass from Pucci to Andrew Sherwood in the first quarter.
The defeat comes as a step back for Damien, which notched a 31-10 victory over Temescal Canyon in its previous outing. The loss snapped DHS's 3-game winning streak. With the win Los Alamitos extended its winning streak to three games.
In a Sunset game next week Los Alamitos (4-1) takes on Marina, and Damien (3-2) will go up against Ayala in a Sierra game.
