Hillcrest hasn't had much luck against Tooele recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Huskies will face off against the Buffaloes at 3:30 p.m. Hillcrest is coming into the contest hot, having won their last five games.
Hillcrest took a ten-run loss the last time they faced off against Granger, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Huskies had just enough and edged out the Lancers 6-5 on Monday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Huskies have posted since March 15th.
Abigail Hitchcock spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned runs on eight hits and racked up seven Ks.

At the plate, Bailey Terry and Skylynn Salazar Bell did most of the damage at the plate: Terry scored two runs while going 2-for-3, while Salazar Bell went 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. The dominant performance also gave Terry a new career-high in doubles (two). Emily Mandel also deserves some recognition as she got her first hits of the season.
Hillcrest was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .423. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .400 or higher in three consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Tooele). Their pitcher stepped up to hand Jordan a 20-0 shutout on Monday. With that win, the Buffaloes brought their scoring average up to 6.4 runs per game.
Kenni Molgard looked comfortable as she tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.
On the hitting side, Tooele let Hunter Culley and Paizlee Wall run wild. Culley went a perfect 4-for-4 with two triples, three RBI, and two runs, while Wall went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and one triple. Another player making a difference was Bella Pacheco, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-3.
Tooele moved to 6-10 with that victory, which also ended their three-game losing streak. As for Hillcrest, the win got them back to even at 8-8.
Hillcrest's speedy runners might be the difference in Tuesday's game. The Huskies have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.9 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Tooele, though, as they've been averaging only 1 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Hillcrest continue to outrun the ball?
Hillcrest suffered a grim 10-2 defeat to Tooele in their previous matchup back in March. Can the Huskies avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
