The Roane County Yellowjackets's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They had to suffer through a rough 79-40 loss at the hands of McMinn Central. Roane County has struggled against McMinn Central recently, as their match on Friday was their eighth consecutive lost matchup.
McMinn Central was led to victory by Karina Bystry and Molly Masingale. Bystry scored 22 points along with six rebounds and two steals, while Masingale scored 27 points along with six assists and six rebounds. Bystry has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last nine times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Malea Masingale, who scored nine points along with two steals.
Roane County's loss ended a nine-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 8-6. As for McMinn Central, the victory was the 16th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 20-2.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Roane County will square off against Tellico Plains at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Tennessee (Tellico Plains is ranked 137th, while Roane County is ranked 140th). As for McMinn Central, they will head out on the road to challenge Sweetwater at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Sweetwater focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 19 on Saturday.
