The Newport Buffaloes lost against the Midd-West Mustangs back in February, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Newport fell 51-38 to Midd-West. Newport has not had much luck with Midd-West recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
Several Buffaloes players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Landon Zaring, who scored 11 points along with eight rebounds. Those 11 points set a new season-high mark for him. The team also got some help courtesy of Ryder Wands, who scored five points.
Newport's defeat was their third straight at home, which bumped their record down to 2-5. As for Midd-West, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 6-2.
Newport and Greenwood will round out the year against one another at 7:30 p.m. on Friday at. Midd-West will finish 2023 at home by hosting Shikellamy at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
