The Seneca Valley Screamin' Eagles pushed their score all the way to 69 on Wednesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell to New Hope Academy  74-69. Despite running the score up even higher than they did  on Tuesday (60), Seneca Valley still had to take the loss.
 Seneca Valley lost  despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being   Korey Trone, who  scored 17 points along with seven  assists. That's the first time this season that  Trone  scored 15 or more  points. Another player making a difference was  Karter Toliver, who  scored eight points along with five  assists.
 Even though they lost, Seneca Valley  were working as a unit and  finished the game with 18  assists. That's the most  assists they've managed all season.
 Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead New Hope Academy to victory, but perhaps none more so than   Haki  Muhammad , who  scored 26 points. The  matchup was  Muhammad 's 18th in a row with at least ten points.  Uriah  Augare-Deal  was another key contributor,  dropping  a double-double on 17 points and ten  rebounds.
 Seneca Valley has  traveled a rocky road recently, as they've  lost five of their last six matchups,  which put a noticeable dent in their 2-6 record this season. As for New Hope Academy, the  victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 7-12.
 Seneca Valley will look to defend their home court  on January 4, 2024 against Gaithersburg at 5:30  p.m. Gaithersburg is coming into the  game on a four-game losing streak. New Hope Academy and Avalon will face off  at 10:00  a.m.  on December 30th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. That game will pit two of the most dominant  players against one another:  Trey Simmons and  Muhammad.
