Del Valle and Horizon are an even 5-5 against one another since December of 2019, but not for long. The Del Valle Conquistadores will head out on the road to take on the Horizon Scorpions at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Del Valle is not getting complacent, as they presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Horizon in Texas (Del Valle is ranked 551st, while Horizon is ranked 1174th).
Last Friday, Del Valle beat Ysleta 59-46.
Ryu Nunez continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 17 points and 11 rebounds. He has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last six times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Byan Mei, who scored seven points along with six steals.
Meanwhile, Horizon's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their ninth straight loss. They took a hard 48-32 fall against Bel Air.
Del Valle has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 18-10 record this season. As for Horizon, they dropped their record down to 7-19 with that defeat, which was their fifth straight at home.
Del Valle was able to grind out a solid win over Horizon in their previous matchup back in January, winning 73-65. The rematch might be a little tougher for Del Valle since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
