If the Concord Christian Lions were riding high off their 85-58 takedown of the Clayton-Bradley Academy Blazers last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Concord Christian suffered a rough 78-53 loss at the hands of Boyd-Buchanan on Saturday. While losing is never fun, Concord Christian can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 262nd, while Boyd-Buchanan is ranked 94th).
Despite the loss, Concord Christian still got an impressive performance from Dominic Alford, who scored 19 points along with six assists and six rebounds. Drew Sloan was another key contributor, scoring ten points.
Concord Christian now has a losing record at 8-9. As for Boyd-Buchanan, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 15-5 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Concord Christian will take on First Baptist Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. First Baptist Academy is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'. As for Boyd-Buchanan, they will head out on the road to take on St. Andrews-Sewanee at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. St. Andrews-Sewanee is on a three-game streak of home wins, Boyd-Buchanan a three-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court.
