The Dixon Bulldogs struggled with offensive rebounds on Friday (the Clinton Dark Horses had eight more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Dixon fell 41-33 to Clinton. While losing is never fun, Dixon can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 511th, while Clinton is ranked 254th).
Several Bulldogs players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Brayden Anderson-Sidbury, who scored nine points along with 18 rebounds and six blocks. Those six blocks set a new season-high mark for him. Cooper Tozier was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with five rebounds.
Clinton got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Gregory Coxum out in front who scored ten points along with five rebounds. Another player making a difference was Nydarion Blackwell, who scored ten points along with eight rebounds.
Dixon has not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-5 record this season. As for Clinton, their win ended a six-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 2-0.
Dixon's road trip will continue as they head out to face Southwest Onslow at 6:00 p.m. on December 27, 2023. One thing working in Southwest Onslow's favor is that they have posted big point totals every time they've taken the court this season. Clinton will finish 2023 at home by hosting Topsail at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Topsail is coming into the contest on a six-game losing streak.
