Murrieta Mesa hasn't had much luck against Temecula Valley recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Rams will face off against the Golden Bears at 6:30 p.m. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Murrieta Mesa comes in on three and Temecula Valley on seven.
Murrieta Mesa will bounce into Thursday's contest after beating Murrieta Valley, who they had gone 1-8 against in their nine prior meetings. The Rams won by a set and slipped past the Nighthawks 3-2.
Murrieta Mesa had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first two sets, they turned around to win the next three. The match finished with set scores of 16-25, 18-25, 25-23, 27-25, 15-12.
Murrieta Mesa can attribute much of their success to Livie Corelli, who had 12 digs and one assist, and Sade Valencia, who had three digs and three aces.
They weren't the only good servers: Murrieta Mesa was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 17 aces. That's the most aces they've posted since back in September of 2024.
Meanwhile, Temecula Valley was able to grind out a solid victory over Chaparral on Tuesday, taking the game 3-1.
Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-17, 25-23, 23-25, 25-17.
Murrieta Mesa's record is now 27-5-2. As for Temecula Valley, their record now sits at 15-2.
Murrieta Mesa came up short against Temecula Valley in their previous meeting back in September, falling 3-1. Can the Rams avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
