Ware County (Waycross, Ga.) had its advantage, which at one point stood at 14 points, drop to seven before the final whistle blew on a 20-13 victory over
Union Grove (McDonough, Ga.).
The Gators were up 10-6 at the half after taking the lead on a touchdown run by
Xavier Tobler in the second quarter.
Ware County expanded its lead to seven points entering the fourth quarter. WC scored once in the quarter on a field goal by
Seth Starling.
With the win the Waycross school extended its winning streak to 11 games. The Gators defeated the Panthers 27-7 last week.
Starling was the top performer for Ware County. The senior kicked two field goals and two extra points.
WC went into the matchup giving up only 8.2 points per game. The Wolverines' 13 points were well below their season average of 22.9 per game.
The loss comes after Union Grove defeated Bainbridge 18-0 last week.
