Mountain Ridge is 8-1 against Herriman since May of 2022 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Sentinels will challenge the Mustangs at 3:30 p.m. Mountain Ridge's pitching crew has only allowed 4.1 runs per game this season, so Herriman's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
Mountain Ridge's tournament run continued when they took on Gahr on Thursday. The Sentinels fell just short of the Gladiators by a score of 4-3.
Mountain Ridge got a good showing from Kash Goodsell, who tossed 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.
At the plate, Stockton Fowlks was cooking despite his team's loss, going 3-for-5 with one home run and one stolen base. That home run marked the first that he launched this season. Cooper Goff was another key player, going 1-for-5 with one home run.
Meanwhile, Herriman waltzed into their contest on Friday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They blew past the Longhorns 7-1. The result was nothing new for the Mustangs, who have now won three matchups by six runs or more so far this season.
Boston Jacobson made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Cache Carter, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Brigham Whitaker, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4.
Herriman's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-3. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.0 runs over those games. As for Mountain Ridge, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-3.
Everything went Mountain Ridge's way against Herriman in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, as Mountain Ridge made off with a 13-2 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Sentinels since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
