The Winchester Community Golden Falcons will head out to square off against the Northeastern Knights at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Winchester Community will bounce into Tuesday's matchup after beating Wapahani, who they had gone 0-7 against in their seven prior meetings. The Golden Falcons blew past the Raiders 10-3 on Monday. Winning may never get old, but the Golden Falcons sure are getting used to it with their fifth in a row.
Landen Porfidio was incredible, going 2-for-5 with three runs, three RBI, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Dravin Whitehead, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.
Winchester Community was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .414. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .389 or higher in five consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Northeastern). They never let Randolph Southern get on the board and left with a 22-0 victory on Monday. The win continues a trend for the Knights in their matchups with the Rebels: they've now won five in a row.
The team relied heavily on Kaleb Kress, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those four runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Logan White, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with three runs and one RBI.
Winchester Community pushed their record up to 13-3 with the victory, which was their 15th straight at home dating back to last season. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.9 runs on average over those games. As for Northeastern, their record is now 11-4.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Winchester Community has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.1 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Northeastern struggles in that department as they've been averaging 4.1 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Winchester Community skirted past Northeastern 8-7 in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Golden Falcons since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
